I assume it's meant more of a "move on from Halo". Hell, from what I've heard, SOT is actually getting the option to do it completely single-player-something all-new for the game (apparently people got sick of being bushwacked by randoms during the POTC story, so for Monkey Island you can do it on your own).Įven in deep Halo-land, the response to the S4 trailer is largely "Oh, this should've been here at launch". The content announced for those games? All pretty big deals. The chance for this game to rebound and have some sort of redemption arc is long gone by now which was further cemented with today's no show at the showcase. It's enough to sustain development for a few more years to come, IMO. It might have been a different story if the launch back in 2021 had all the things we will have at the start of S4.Īt this point, all this game will be for its entire life cycle will be a game for the dwindling hardcore Halo fanbase. Most people are not going to wait around for a game to deliver content, there's just too many options out there nowadays. Even now the game is missing a lot, but that first year was ROUGH. The technical issues with desync and the servers hampered it quite a bit, but the main reason people dipped was due to the game having such a meager amount of content for so long. The game had a very troubled development, but what they were able to churn out in the little time they had was good. It's one thing if I thought the game just sucked from the get go at every facet and I moved on right away, but there are hints of greatness that pop up every now and then. For me, what sucks the most is seeing the potential squandered.
